A Special Escort for the Olympic Torch

04 July 2012

The Olympic Torch Relay passed through Bourne this morning and Rick and Rob Hall were asked to provide two BRM's to follow the torch bearer's through the streets of the historic market town from where Raymond Mays bought the ERA and BRM marques to the world of motor racing in the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's.

We have kindly been sent these photos from Malcolm J Taylor showing Rick Hall in the ex Pedro Rodriguez/Jackie Oliver Brm P153 #4 in Yardley livery and Rob Hall in the ex Piers Courage/Pedro Rodriguez BRM P126 #1 in the iconic British Racing Green with Orange lipstick colours. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-u7HQARYQwM

Rick and Rob were delighted to be asked to help the Olympic Torch Relay through Bourne in this the 50th Anniversary year of Graham Hill winning the 1962 Formula 1 World Championship. Early estimates suggest that there was over 20,000 people lining the streets and Rick and Rob enjoyed themselves hugely. It also gave the residents of Bourne a little taster of the forthcoming BRM Celebration Day on Sunday 7th October 2012.
